Let’s Go Global

“… the human family is more alike than different.”
Calling bloggers, and after the incredible energy surrounding last week’s post, especially mothers who blog.  I invite you to use your voices for global story-telling.  If you can be in New York for UN Week, September 21-24, 2010, and are mildly interested in changing the world, then this is for you.
The United Nations Foundation is partnering with Mashable and the 92nd St Y to put together an innovative digital opportunity to deconstruct UN-speak and understand the UN’s goals and actions.  The Digital Media Lounge will run on the back of the Mashable Social Good Summit held at the 92nd St Y, as well as streaming key events happening at the UN.  As you scroll down the list, wondering about the relevance of these global challenges to your daily life, you will find the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) resonate at a core level, and you will realize that the human family is more alike than different.

1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2: Achieve universal primary education
3: Promote gender equality and empower women
4: Reduce child mortality
5: Improve maternal health
6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
7: Ensure environmental sustainability
8: Develop a Global Partnership for Development

I am honored and thrilled to be participating and will have more to share on this extraordinary event soon.  In the mean time, to learn more, read here and then sign up here for accreditation to attend.   And watch this quick clip to see how all of us are critical players.

What do you think?  Can you make a difference?  I believe we are powerful when we show up and when we write and speak.  I’d love your thoughts and remember to subscribe via email or RSS in the top right corner.
