I was at a blogging conference over the weekend – the exquisitely and appropriately named Blissdom! Usually I am so busy listening and talking (and listening and talking) that I am too exhausted and miss the dance parties that close out these fabulous events.
I love to dance. LOVE. But for the past few years, my moves have been limited to kitchen parties with my kids. Back in the *cough, cough* day, I was a bit obsessed by techno music and used to go clubbing 3-4 nights a week. I was fierce and fabulous! Well, fast forward to last Saturday night. I felt like an alien had taken all my moves and left me with an overdose of awkwardness.
My adorable (younger) friends going low, low, low on the floor came to the rescue, simply by being themselves. They were celebrating their bodies and celebrating our time together as women and mothers. It took a minute, but I remembered myself and danced my heart out. I felt that connection.
In almost every culture, women dance. Often for men, yes, but more often, for themselves and often together. So to women everywhere, I dare you, right here, right now.
Dance.
How about YOU? Do you bust a move beyond the kitchen?

Love it, and yes, I did a little low, low, low on Saturday night too …
Of course, it has become somewhat harder to get back up again ;)

Love to hear that! I’m not a dancer. That is, I’m not a good dancer, but when the music starts (and wine is flowing) sometimes I can’t help it.
Glad you had a great time!

I love to dance!!!! And yes I burst a move almost every night, and even sometimes my husband and I slow dance in our living room. It is truly amazing. I enjoyed dancing with you, and even if we are not professional dancers, we had fun and that was all that mattered. So honored to have met you :)

Love this! Yes, something about dancing, connecting and just being with fellow moms who “get you”, makes it fabulous! Had such fun dancing with you wonderful ladies!!
Seriously! I think my right hip may never be the same again! :)

I love to dance and I do it often at home when no one is looking or if someone is looking-I don’t care if they are.

You, Chrysula and Tiany did such a great job! Dancing is such an important part of self expression for me. I was a dancer and competitive synchronized swimmer, and moving my body is an important way to express my creativity.
Not to mention it’s so much fun with your lady friends!
Love it, and yes, I did a little low, low, low on Saturday night too …

Yes! My daughter and I are danceaholics. We dance pretty much all day and everywhere…

I’m a preschool teacher, so I dance all the time! :) My daughters and I also like to do “freeze dance” in our kitchen. We haven’t don’t that in a long time…today would be a good day to freeze dance!
